[02:00] ✔️ External and Internal Landscape. Do the research to ensure your competencies are tailored, relevant, and forward-looking. This means looking both external to the organization and internal. Think strategic plan, values, hiring processes, promotion processes, etc.

[05:05] ✔️ Conversations. Talk to staff and leadership to understand their perceptions and needs. Bonus: this also builds trust and buy-in for the competencies.
